Kloyd – New Love

Kate Lloyd, aka Kloyd, makes her Anjunadeep debut with “New Love” — a producer move that makes sense given where her sound has been heading. Yorkshire-raised and London-based, she started the track from a vocal sample she found, distorted heavily through processing and reversing, then built everything else around it.

It opens on soft piano, then a hypnotic beat kicks in and doesn’t let go. The subject is the early stages of falling for someone — the excitement and the apprehension running alongside each other — and the production matches that: atmospheric but with an industrial edge, Four Tet and Massive Attack as reference points.

“New Love” is her first release under the Anjunadeep banner, and it’s a strong opening statement.
